Another Wish Comes True

The final wish on the Foundation's 2022 Wish List has been granted.

The second largest fundraising project in the Foundation’s history, the Pyxis Medstation, consists of eight separate dispensing drawer units located in various departments within the Leduc Community Hospital.

Patient safety is the number one priority and this new equipment has had such a positive impact on the staff and how medications are distributed to patients. Staff using the Pyxis are grateful to the Foundation and donors for helping to bring this important piece of equipment to the Hospital.

When asked about the new equipment, Pharmacy Technician Marianne says,

The system has increased efficiency, keeps track of medication expiry dates, registers meds with the patient’s record on Connect Care, and allows for a consistent inventory of all meds and narcotics.

Since 2013, thanks to the generosity of donors, sponsors and volunteers, over 25 projects totalling $1.83 M have supported the Leduc Community Hospital and local healthcare centres.
