31st Annual Charity Golf Classic a Super Success

The sun was bright and, despite the wind, the weather was pleasant for the Foundation's 31st annual Charity Golf Classic at the Leduc Golf & Country Club on June 7, 2024.

130 golfers turned out to enjoy a day of sport, fun and camaraderie, all for a good cause and with many dressed in super-hero costumes in support of the Superheroes Unite theme. This year’s tournament raised a record $23,000+ in support of the Foundation's current Wish List, Healthcare Studies Scholarships and Healthcare Professional Development Awards, and a healthy future for our community.

The day’s highlights included stiff competition for the costume contest (with people dressed as fictional superheroes but also everyday superheroes like the RCMP, nurses and the Oilers), friendly on-course golf competitions including neon ball, axe throwing, the speed (flash 2024) hole and the marshmallow drive, a generous selection of silent auction items, the Rotary 50/50 and Spidey Web Solo cup, and a delicious taco bar dinner. A new Partner in Health award was also presented to Lynette Hayden, long-time volunteer, board member and past chair who recently completed her term on the Foundation's board of trustees.

“This event isn't just about golf,” says Foundation board chair, Camille Bailer. “It’s about people coming together to help elevate the health and well being of our community."

The enduring success of the Charity Golf Classic is a testament to the continued generosity and contributions of the Foundation's new and long-time supporters alike including the 22 volunteers and 27 sponsors at this year's event.

"The fact that the Charity Golf Classic has been going strong for 31 years shows how special this event is to the Foundation and to the community," explains Foundation Executive Director, Colleen Zimmerman. "We are so grateful for the support of our partners, sponsors, golfers and volunteers for making this day so memorable."

Thanks to everyone who helped make this day such a resounding success! Many golfers and sponsors have already confirmed they'll be back next year. We look forward to seeing you at the 32nd Annual Charity Golf Classic on June 6, 2025.
