Thank You Colleen

Colleen Zimmerman, Executive Director of the Leduc Community Hospital Foundation, recently announced her retirement from fundraising and healthcare. Colleen, we wish you well as you begin this new life chapter.

Colleen started with the Foundation in May 2017. Jumping right in, the Foundation board had just submitted a name change for the organization, which became official in January 2018 and which involved a total re-brand of the organization. The Foundation was also in the midst of a $1.25 million campaign for a CT scanner – the largest campaign in their history. The CT scanner campaign was completed in December 2017.

Every department in the Leduc Community Hospital and local Public Health Centres has benefited from the generosity of donors and supporters of the Foundation. Since 2017, the Foundation has raised more than $4.5 million dollars and completed almost 30 projects.

“My passion for health care and fundraising was actually fueled in 1998, when my second son was diagnosed with brain cancer," explains Colleen. "Spending 16 years within the system, advocating for Adam and supporting other families going through similar experiences, provided me with a perspective on what our communities could do to support patients and healthcare. I have strived to apply all that I gained during those years into my time at the Foundation."

“I am truly grateful for all of the donors and supporters I have met over the years. Very little we do in life; we do on our own. Community is realized when we join forces, collaborate, create partnerships and inspire others to accomplish great things for the betterment of all.”

Colleen has been involved with non-profit organizations for more than three decades, which included working with the Wetaskiwin Health Foundation from 2004 – 2008.  As the Leduc Community Hospital Foundation’s Executive Director, Colleen is proud of the work she has done, most notably organizing six successful Charity Golf Classics, the Foundation being recognized as the Non-Profit of the Year (2019) by the Leduc-Wetaskiwin Chamber of Commerce, being honoured by the Rotary Club of Nisku-Leduc as their Integrity Award recipient in 2023, and the completion of the Staff Wellness Room in the Leduc Community Hospital in December of 2024.

Thank you, Colleen, for your years of service and accomplishments with the Leduc Community Hospital Foundation.
