Vein Viewer 2017

With funds raised in 2017, this equipment was purchased to support and enhance patient care at the Leduc Community Hospital.

This device uses near-infrared (NIR) light and other technologies to detect blood and create a digital image of the patient’s superficial vein pattern projected directly onto the surface of the skin. This device improves peripheral vascular access by reducing the number of sticks and improving patient satisfaction. The Vein Viewer is especially helpful for children and seniors, those with a darker skin tone and/or deflated veins.
