Tissue Freezer 2017
With funds raised in 2017, the tissue freezer was purchased for use in the operating room at the Leduc Community Hospital, primarily for orthopaedic surgeries.
A -80 degree Celsius freezer is required to store cadaver tissue for transplant into another person. Before having this special piece of equipment, separate deliveries were required from the tissue bank facility in Edmonton for each procedure. Having this freezer on site allows for adequate tissues on-hand which is much more efficient for the surgeons performing procedures, and more economical for the hospital as well.
